Joel Daugherty – Meetups & Men’s Pastor

Joel Daugherty - Meetups & Men's Pastor at Freedom Life Church Downtown Lake Charles, LA1) How long have you been coming to Freedom Life?

Since October of 2015.

2) Why/how did you first come to FL?

I was going through the most difficult season of my life at the time. After praying about it, I felt led to join the Freedom Life family. My new church family supported and loved me through my pain, and I was eventually given opportunities to re-engage in ministry. I will always be thankful for FL!

3) What is your favorite thing about serving in your current ministry position?

I love seeing people form meaningful relationships! Psalms 68:6 says, “He puts the lonely in families; He sets the prisoner free and gives them joy.” Freedom and joy are found in relationships with other believers!

4) Favorite scripture? Why?

1 Corinthians 2:2: “I have determined to know nothing among you except Christ Jesus, and Him crucified.” This is the theme verse of my life. Everything leads back to Christ! He is forgiveness, healing, freedom and joy. He is our Righteousness, our Peace, our Sanctification. Jesus should be the focus of our lives, and there is nothing more important than knowing and loving Him. Solus Christus!

5) What’s one thing you want people to know about FL?

We have a place for you! I know it can be nerve-racking to visit a new church, especially if you don’t know anybody. Freedom Life is a real family, living life together, and we will welcome you with opened arms! Come live it with us!

6) Favorite old hymn?

“Be Thou My Vision” is an old Irish hymn which is hauntingly beautiful. Its lyrics describe how I want to live my life.

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee, and Thy with me, Lord
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise
Thou mine inheritance, now and always
Thou and thou only, first in my heart
High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art

High King of heaven, my victory won
May I reach Heaven’s joys O bright Heaven’s Sun
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all
